Description

Article no.: 36-SAME03

Satake Ame is a beautiful series of knives designed with power, strength, balance and tradition.
The design of the blade is inspired by the Japanese Ame, which means rain.

The blade´s so-called "Rain Pattern" is not only beautiful but also makes that raw products, such as potatoes, are not sucked onto the blade when cutting.
  • 12 cm Petty, 18 cm Santoku and 23 cm Kiritsuke
  • Hand-tapped blade of 5 layers of AUS10 steel
  • The hardness of the blade is 60-61 HRC
  • Bolster & end piece in stainless steel
  • Incredibly beautiful handle by Vril* from among other larch, peach trees, camphor & maple

NOTE! All handles are completely unique. See image example.

- Petty are small kitchen knives in Japanese design. Petty's and paring knives can vary considerably in both profile and size, ranging from 75 mm to 150 mm. Petty is ideal for small and tricky tasks on the cutting board.

- Santoku is perhaps the model of Japanese knives that has established itself best in the rest of the world.
The design varies a lot, but it often has a higher profile than Western chef's knives (Gyutos) and a stronger rounding at the tip. It is very common for chefs to use their Santoku for pretty much everything when it comes to cooking. A santoku is excellent for both vegetables, roots, fish, poultry and meat.

- Kiritsuke are beautiful knives with long blades to be able to draw long and whole cuts, which in turn gives fine slices of the raw fish, or other raw materials that should be sliced delicately.
The knives must be kept very sharp to give the clean and fine cuts.

* Vril - or masur as it is also called, is an outgrowth on a tree where the fibers go in different directions instead of vertically. Vril / Masur wood is much sought after because it is incredibly beautiful and harder than ordinary wood.
