Grind a flat grinding bevel or convert the horizontal attachments to vertical.
The MB-102 Multi-Bracket allows you to grind on the side of Tormek diamond wheels. It provides a completely flat grinding bevel which is preferred in some applications. The MB-102 Multi-Bracket is fully adjustable for the best setting for each tool and jig. In addition, the multi-bracket converts the machine's horizontal mounts to vertical (so-called Frontal Vertical Base or FVB), making it easier to sharpen knives in co-rotation, as well as to break with knife jigs.
When sharpening on the top of the curved side of the grinding wheel you get a slightly concave bevel. For some tools a flat bevel is preferable. You can achieve this by grinding on the flat side of your diamond grinding wheels.
Please note that grinding on the side of the grinding wheel with the MB-102 Multi Attachment is only intended for grinding with diamond wheels. We do not recommend it for grinding with grinding stones as they wear down and require turning, which is not possible on the side.
Fully adjustable to fit your tool
The MB-102 Multi Mount has an adjustable joint that allows you to set the grinding position to the optimal setting for each tool and jig. You can mount the MB-102 Multi Base to either the vertical or horizontal mounts on your machine, depending on which works best for your tool, jig or work position.
Sharpening knives in co-rotation and breaking with jig
When you mount the MB-102 Multi-Bracket horizontally on your Tormek machine, you can mount the Universal Support vertically in front of the machine. You simply convert the horizontal brackets on the machine to become vertical.
This gives better access for sharpening knives with the edge in the same direction as the rotation of the grinding wheel (co-grinding) and for controlled breaking with knife jigs. Many users prefer co-sharpening on Tormek Japanese Waterstone to ensure that the edge does not cut into the softer stone.
Please note that the MB-102 is only suitable for diamond wheel grinding. It is not intended for grinding stones as they require turning, which is not possible on the side.
The MB-102 Multi-Bracket can be used with most Tormek jigs, but is designed to work with:
Jig for knives KJ-45, Jig for long knives KJ-140, Holder for small knives SVM-00, Jig for straight edges SE-77, Jig for short tools SVS-38, Jig for sharpening tools SVD-186R, Multi jig SVS-50 and Sharpening rest SVD-110.
