You'll be amazed at how sharp you can get virtually any axe with the AX-40 Axe Jig. The durable composite jaws wrap securely around the axe head, allowing for easy, symmetrical and precise sharpening.
You can grind concave, flat or convex grinding phases, depending on what best suits your axe and its application. The AX-40 Axe Jig is suitable for all types of axes, from small forestry axes to carpenter's axes, carving axes and cars - pretty much any axe you can find will get a perfect grind.
Dry sharpening on a standard, fast-rotating bench grinder carries a high risk of burning the edge and ruining the axe. With the Tormek sharpening system there is no such risk as the water cools the edge continuously.
Edge angles to suit your work
Choose the edge angle that is best for your axe. An all-purpose axe for sports and leisure has a larger edge angle than a carving axe. A splitting axe requires an even larger edge angle.
Splitting axes can be sharpened asymmetrically with a larger bevel on the left side (if you are right-handed). The axe will then cut more easily because the cutting force is closer to the cutting direction.
